The Coin

“It is said that when mankind first learned the art of trade – when apes first decided to communicate ’I’ll give you this thing for that thing’ – that was when The Coin was born. Others say that the exchange of one thing for another was there all along, waiting to be woken by her eventual use by man. The church of The Coin are too busy buy-buy-buying and sell-sell-selling to care. By the by, that’ll be eight-hundred yen for the info…” – An information peddler.

The patron deity of Palatine, the coin is the god of commerce and money. Every yen in creation is the creation of this god, and as such she can control its flow, and any reward deemed worthy of its expenditure. Anything on which monetary value can be placed is subject to The Coin’s manipulations: as an example, a recipe book from a store could be bought, and so the knowledge in it could be channelled by a Coin contractor, but the knowledge in a family recipe could not, because the time and effort put into those family recipes, and their sentiment, is priceless.
